New to collecting/playing and don't know your types? We've all been there at one point. This page has every card type and what video game equivalents are included in each.

Colorless: Contains normal and flying types. Used to contain dragon types until the Dragons Exalted expansion was released. |

Lightning: Only contains electric types. Has been the most consistent throughout the years. |

Psychic: Contains psychic, ghost, and fairy cards. Used to contain poison types until the base Sword and Shield expansion was released. |

Fighting: Contains fighting, ground, and rock cards. Just as consistent as Lightning cards. |

Water: Contains water and ice types. Just as consistent as Lightning cards. |
 |
Fire: Contains only fire types. Nothing more, nothing less. |
 |
Grass: Contains grass and bug types. Used to contain poison types until the Diamond and Pearl expansion was released. |

Darkness: Contains dark and poison types. Introduced in the Neo Genesis expansion, lines up with the addition of dark types in the games. |

Metal: Only contains steel types. Introduced in the Neo Genesis expansion, lines up with the addition of steel types in the games. |

Fairy: Only contained Fairy types. Introduced in the XY expansion, the same time that fairy types were introduced in the games. Phased out once the Sword and Shield base set was released due to balancing issues with Metal and Dragon type cards. |
